Rati Agnihotri (born 10 December 1960) is an Indian actress, known for acting in Hindi, as well as in Telugu and Tamil language films. Her roles in the cult-tragedy film Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981) and the drama film Tawaif (1985) earned her two nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress .
Rati belongs to a Hindu family. She started her acting career in 1979 with the role of Jyothi in the Tamil film ”Puthiya Vaarpugal”. Her sister Anita Agnihotri, a former Miss India, is now a renowned fashion designer.
It became the top grossing hit of 1981 and introduced into Hindi films the 5 stars of the South Indian film industry: director K. Balachander, hero Kamal Haasan, heroine Rati Agnihotri, supporting actress Madhavi, and playback singer S.P. Balasubramaniam.
