Konkona Sen Sharma (born 3 December 1979) is an Indian actress and filmmaker who works primarily in Hindi and Bengali films. She has received several awards, including two National Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards.
Konkona Sen Sharma is the poster girl of Indie cinema and is one of the most respected actresses in India with a career spanning more than two decades. Last year at SALA, we spent some time in conversation with Konkona about her work in film, and her thoughts on changing the narrative.
Konkana first appeared on the silver screen as a child artist in 1983s “Indira.” In 2002, she won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actress for her English film “Mr. and Mrs. Iyer.” In her childhood, she was not allowed to watch commerical films.
