Luis Alberni was born Barcelona, Spain, in 1886, and studied drama at the University of Madrid. He emigrated to the U.S. after Spain’s entrance into World War I and sought out stage roles in New York City. He made his Broadway debut in 1915, at the age of 29, and performed in 15 Broadway productions through 1928.
