Jack Smethurst. John Smethurst (9 April 1932 – 16 February 2022) was an English television and film comic actor. [2] He was best known for his role as Eddie Booth in the British television sitcom Love Thy Neighbour .
The actor, who also appeared in Coronation Street and Carry On Sergeant, passed away peacefully at home, his family announced. He was known for his role as Eddie Booth, a white socialist who hated his black neighbours, in the ITV sitcom that tackled racism and prejudice.
Jack Smethurst (1932-2022) was a British actor who appeared in Chariots of Fire, A Kind of Loving and Coronation Street. He was married to Julie Nicholls and died of natural causes in 2022.
