Joseph McBride (born August 9, 1947) is an American film historian, biographer, screenwriter, author and educator. He has written books on a variety of subjects including notable film directors, screenwriting, the JFK assassination , and a memoir of his youth.
McBride was a reporter, reviewer, and columnist for Daily Variety in Hollywood for many years. His screenwriting credits include co-writing the cult classic punk rock musical Rock ’n’ Roll High School and five American Film Institute Life Achievement Award specials on CBS-TV.
