Don Carmody was brought up in Montréal, attended Loyola University and graduated from McGill University with a law degree in 1976. While still at school he worked part-time in the film business, first as a driver on Robert Altman's Macabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), and later as location scout on Ted KOTCHEFF 's The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1974).
