Vasant Panchami (Sanskrit: वसन्त पञ्चमी, romanized: Vasanta Pañcamī), also rendered Vasanta Panchami and Saraswati Puja in honour of the Hindu goddess Saraswati, is a festival that marks the preparation for the arrival of spring.
One of the main festivals of the Vasanta season is celebrated on Vasanta Panchami ( Sanskrit: वसन्त पञ्चमी ), which in Indian society is a cultural and religious festival, celebrated annually on the first day of spring, the fifth day (Panchami) of the Hindu month Magha (January–February).
Vasant Panchami or Basant Panchami marks the beginning of the transition period from winter to spring. After Makar Sankranti (January 14-15), the sun gradually starts its northward journey from the tropic of Capricorn as winter gradually fades away, leading to warmer days.

One of the most auspicious Hindu festivals, Vasant Panchami 2023, is observed by Sikhs to bid farewell to the wintery days and honour the beautiful season of spring. Vasant Panchami translates to “Spring” and “Fifth”, respectively.
Vasant is the equivalent to spring and one of the seasons out of six Indian seasons in Hindu calendar. Vasant Panchami is misnomer as the day is not linked to Indian season of Vasant. Vasant Panchami is not necessarily falls during the season of Vasant.
