Antony Basker Raj (25 June 1930 – 23 August 2020), also known as A. Bhaskar Raj, was an Indian director of Malayalam movies. Career. From 1951 to 1960, he directed ten Singalese (Sinhala) movies followed by directing 65 Malayalam movies from 1963 until 1984. He also directed two Tamil movies.
A.B. Raj was born on 21 April 1925 in Alappuzha, Travancore, British Raj [now India]. He was a director and writer, known for Aakrosam (1982), Agni Saram (1981) and Light House (1976). He died on 23 August 2020 in Chennai, India.

Aug 24, 2020 · Veteran filmmaker AB Raj passed away on Sunday, following a cardiac arrest in Chennai. He was 95. Born as Antony Basker Raj in Alappuzha, A B Raj began his career as a filmmaker in Sri Lanka. He directed more than 10 films in Sinhalese under the name A Bhaskar Raj.

AB Raj has died in Chennai. The 95 year-old director died of cardiac arrest, according to his son-in-law Ponvannan. Raj is survived by three children, including noted actor Saranya Ponvannan.
