Ashish Avikunthak (born 1972) is an Indian avant-garde filmmaker, film theorist, archaeologist and cultural anthropologist. His works have been screened at art galleries and private screenings, including Tate Modern, Centre George Pompidou, Paris Film Archive; along with Rotterdam, Locarno, London film festivals, among others.

Ashish AVIKUNTHAK (1972, India) is an award-winning experimental filmmaker who has been making films in India since the mid-1990s. He holds a PhD in Cultural and Social Anthropology from Stanford University, previously he taught at Yale University and is currently an Associate Professor of Film and Media at the University of Rhode Island.
Ashish Avikunthak has been making films in India since the mid nineties. His films have been shown worldwide in film festivals, galleries and museums. He has made a half dozen short films and three feature films – Shadows Formless (2007), Katho Upanaishad (2011) and Rati Chakravyuh (2013).
