David Dalrymple Butler (12 November 1927 – 27 May 2006) was a Scottish writer of numerous screenplays and teleplays who won a Primetime Emmy Award and was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.

David Butler. Writer/Actor. 12 November 1927 to 26 May 2006. Butler appeared in Emergency Ward 10 but was best known for bringing many television series to the screen, including the BAFTA-winning Edward VII (1975), and Mountbatten: The Last Viceroy, which won an Emmy in 1986.
David Butler was a South African actor. He portrayed Chief Russell Flannagan on Max's original martial arts crime drama Warrior. On May 27, 2021, it was reported that David had passed away at the age of 61, months after being diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2020.
