The UK Film Council ( UKFC) was a non-departmental public body set up in 2000 to develop and promote the film industry in the UK. It was constituted as a private company limited by guarantee, owned by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and governed by a board of 15 directors.

The British Film Commission (BFC) is the national agency with a remit to maximise and support the production of international feature film and television in the UK. What we do. The BFC’s Government-set remit. Maximise and support the production of major international feature film and high-end television in the UK.
We celebrate the innovation, diversity, creativity and excellence of UK film around the world. We also offer international opportunities to UK film professionals, and broker creative relationships between UK filmmakers and their international counterparts.
