Apr 15, 2017 · Shankar Nandagopal (71) who passed away in Chennai on Friday night after a massive heart attack, was recognised for three reasons: his father the legendary artist KCS Paniker (who founded the Madras Art Movement and the Cholamandal Artist Village), his frontal narrative sculptures, and his contributions to the Madras Art Movement.
S. Nandagopal (1946 – 14 April 2017) was an Indian sculptor and painter, known for his sculptures in metal. He was one of the last members of the Madras Art Movement which pioneered modernism in art in south India and the son of K. C. S. Paniker, the founder of the movement as well as the Cholamandal Artists' Village.

Apr 14, 2017 · S Nandagopal, renowned sculptor and son of celebrated painter KCS Panikkar, died Friday after a heart attack, reported The Hindu. He died at his home in Cholamandal Artists’ Village. Nandagopal, born in 1946 in Bengaluru, was a recipient of the National Award of Lalit Kala Academy at the age of 23.
Nandagopal, was an Indian film journalist, editor and critic. He was married to Kalpana Devi who is also of Repalle and the couple have three children- Nadella Gopichand, Nadella Pratyagatma and Koduru Kavitha.
