Cold Chillin' is hip-hop's most revered golden era record label. With Marley Marl commanding the boards, the roster's crack squad of rappers like Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, and Roxanne Shante dropped nothing but pure heat during the late-'80s and early-'90s.
Queen of Rox was a huge hit in 1985 and propelled Shante to stardom. Her subsequent work included collaborations with UTFO on The Real Roxanne and Marley Marl on the excellent Bite This, which has got the heaviest drums I've ever heard on a hip hop track.
