John Brooks Fuqua (pronounced / ˈfjuːkwə /) (June 26, 1918 – April 5, 2006) was a businessman, philanthropist, airport creator and chairman of The Fuqua Companies and Fuqua Enterprises. The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University is named after him, as is the Fuqua School in Farmville, Virginia .

Despite a downward trend in profits, Natco had a 75 year legacy with solid assets, no debts and a book value double the market value.

Fuqua transformed the small brick manufacturer in 1965 into a $2 billion conglomerate in the 1980s that sold lawn mowers, sporting goods, and photo finishing. In 1989 he sold his seven percent stake in Fuqua Industries to Intermark and retired as CEO.

After going public with his illness, he created and gave multiple gifts to the Fuqua Center for Late-Life Depression at Emory University to help reduce the stigma of mental illness and provide clinical services to the low-income elderly. Mr. Fuqua passed away at age 87 in April, 2006. His wife, Dottie, passed away at age 93 in January, 2015.

He was 87. “J.B. Fuqua was a wonderful person, extraordinarily gracious, generous, and humble.” said Fuqua School of Business Dean Doug Breeden.
