'Pallavi' is a 1976 Indian Kannada-language drama film directed by novelist P. Lankesh, in his directorial debut. He also stars, alongside Vimala Naidu and T. N. Seetharam. The film is based on his own 1967 novella 'Biruku' , and focuses on two lovers whose relationship ends when the man fails in life while the woman succeeds.
When Lankesh quit his job as an English lecturer from the Bangalore university Indira started a small sari shop in the house to make ends meet. Her business acumen was so good that within a span of couple years she managed to open a big sari shop in the bustling Gandhi Bazaar.
After marrying her boss a young woman is accused by her former lover, who's on the run from the police, of betraying her former ideals for financial security.
