Michael Hofmann FRSL (born 25 August 1957) is a German-born poet, translator, and critic. The Guardian has described him as "arguably the world's most influential translator of German into English". [1]
He is the editor of the anthologies After Ovid: New Metamorphoses (1994) and Twentieth Century German Poetry (2006). A critic as well as a translator, Hofmann regularly publishes reviews and essays in the London Review of Books and Poetry magazine.
