Jul 27, 2023 · Carroll Kemp was the co-founder/winemaker of the successful Sonoma Coast label Red Car Wines. He parted ways with Red Car in 2018 to embark on a new project with his friend Jan Holtermann: Alma Fria, the name meaning “cold soul” and referring to “the soul of a family, the cold of a geography.”
Carroll Kemp is best known as one of the co-founders of Red Car Wines and long-time winemaker for that label. In early 2018, he left Red Car to expand his role as founding winemaker at Alma Fria (“Cold Soul”) to become a partner with the founding Holtermann family and continue as winemaker.
Carroll Kemp was born on 15 March 1897 in Thatcher, Arizona, USA. He was an actor, known for Cry Blood, Apache (1970) and Daniel Boone (1964). He died on 12 April 1983 in Vancouver, Washington, USA.
Our tastings are led by our winemaker, Carroll Kemp. They are approximately 60-75 minutes in length and include a comprehensive line up of 4-5 wines as well as a small cheese plate prepared by our friends Freestone Artisan Cheese.
