Crazy Diamond is a 1993 triple-CD boxed set of Syd Barrett's two 1970 albums The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, and Opel, an out-takes compilation from 1988. All discs are further augmented by various alternate takes.
The song was conceived and written as a tribute and remembrance to Pink Floyd founder member Syd Barrett. [7] Barrett was eased out of the band in 1968 because his drug use and deteriorating mental health were affecting his ability to integrate with the other band members and create and perform as a musician.
The box set includes the two original albums "The Madcap Laughs" and "Barrett", the rarities collection "Opel", 19 bonus tracks of alternative versions and previously unreleased takes, and a 24-page color booklet with Syd Barrett story, photos and early Pink Floyd ads and playbills.
