Jim McGrath (born 22 May 1955) is an English horse racing pundit and broadcaster. He was associated with Timeform from 1974 until 2009. His nickname is "The Sage of Halifax". He is well known for his onscreen relationship with John Francome on Channel 4 Racing.
From 1997 to 1998, Jim served as Deputy Press Secretary for George W. Bush’s re-election campaign for Governor of Texas. McGrath has counseled numerous political candidates at the local, state and federal levels; and written dozens of speeches, op-ed pieces, annual reports and website materials for business and civic leaders.

From an early age he knew that one day he would write about his adopted home. After writing eight non-fiction books he wrote his first novel A Death in Winter: 1963 in 2015. He has written three further books in the Collins and Clark Series; A Death in Summer: 1965, Death in Spring: 1968 and A Death in Autumn: 1968.
