Jean Devaivre became a kind of swashbuckler figure of the French film industry in the 40s and 50s. Trained as architect, he worked as set designer and assistant director before WW2. In occupied France he was hired by the "Continental Filmproduction", a French film company, setup by the German propaganda ministry.
