Avi Arad (/ ˈ ɑː v i ˈ ɑː r ɑː d /; Hebrew: אבי ארד; born 1948) is an Israeli-American film producer who became the CEO of the company Toy Biz in the 1990s and soon afterward became the chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment, and the chairman, CEO, and founder of Marvel Studios.
Avi Arad is known for producing Spider-Man, X-Men, Venom and other Marvel films. He was born in Israel in 1948 and has a son named Ari Arad.

From what I know, I can say that Avi Arad is, first and foremost, a business man. He likes comics, but he doesn't see that pleasing fans can make him money (like Feige does see). As others said, he shoehorned Venom in Spider-Man 3 and tried to do it in the never made TASM 3 because (and I quote) "Venom sells toys".
