Sridevi started her career as a child actor at the age of four in the Tamil movie Kandhan Karunai in 1967. Subsequently, she played the role of young Muruga in Thunaivan. Sridevi made her debut in Telugu cinema as a child artist with the 1970 film Maa Nanna Nirdoshi.

N. Sreedevi received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in speech and hearing from Mysore University, Mysore, India, in 1986, 1988, and 2003, respectively. She is currently a Professor in Speech Sciences and the Head of the Department of Clinical Services, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore, India.
