Jesu (pronounced "yay-zoo") are a British experimental metal band formed in 2003 by Justin Broadrick following the breakup of his band Godflesh. It shares its name with the last song on Hymns , the final album of Godflesh's initial run.
Jesu came to be known for a sound that was once a pretty unique, and certainly effective, take on combining shoe-gaze with heavy metal. In music, there’s a time for growth and experimentation, but pushing boundaries is the antithesis of what a band like Jesu is about. From the first record, you get the entirety of what Jesu is.
While the Never EP provided a brief detour back to the electronica-Jesu days of old, Jesu’s full length Terminus mostly continues down the path towards the more post-rock and slowcore informed shoegaze of the 2010s era Jesu, but it isn’t afraid to step back into the electronic sounds of Jesu’s past.

With the project’s focus on the more melodic and ambient side of Broadrick’s musical personality, Terminus seems at first listen to be like any of Jesu’s back catalog; the tempos are languid, the atmospheres meditative, the lyrics sparse but introspective, with Broadrick’s emotions laid bare in ever aspect of his performance.
