CGWA regulates ground water development and management by issuing ‘No Objection Certificates’ (NOC) for ground water extraction to industries or infrastructure projects or Mining Projects etc. Necessary conditions for implementation by the proponent are laid down in the NOC issued by CGWA.

The Annual replenishable ground water resources have been estimated as 433 Billion Cubic Metres (bcm). The Net Ground Water Availability is 398 bcm and the overall stage of ground water development of the country is 62%. The present guidelines will follow the assessment as on GWRE 2011 till it is revised.
