Jun 22, 2024 · Khammam town was part of the larger Warangal district till October 1 st, 1953. Five taluks of the Warangal district viz., Khammam, Madhira, Yellandu, Burgampadu and Palwancha (now Kothagudem) were carved out and a new district with Khammam as district head quarters was formed.
Khammam (and the surrounding Khammam District) is in the Telangana state of Southern India. It gets its name from "stambhadri" which became "kambham" and the British Raj used to call the place "Khammam Mettu".
