William Ralph "Dixie" Dean (22 January 1907 – 1 March 1980) was an English footballer who played as a centre forward. Dean holds the record for the most goals scored in a single season in top-flight English football, with 60.
Dixie Dean was a British football (soccer) player, remembered as one of the great centre forwards of his time. Dean first worked as a railway apprentice but at age 16 turned to professional soccer and at 17 played for the Tranmere Rovers. In the 1924–25 season he scored 27 goals in 27 matches.
