Ridley Scott may have created the vision and tone for the world of Blade Runner, but Denis Villeneuve excels at storytelling and character nuance, so 2049 is a more satisfying film. Gosling and Ford are excellent, but Sylvia Hoeks and Ana de Armas deserve just as much attention for their excellent performances.
