The Lodi dynasty (Persian: سلسله لودی) was the ruling dynasty of the Sultanate of Delhi from 1451 to 1526. It was the fifth and final dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate, and was founded by Bahlul Khan Lodi when he replaced the Sayyid dynasty.
Bahlul Khan Lodi, the founder of the Lodi dynasty which ruled over Delhi for 75 years, died on 12th July 1489. Bahlul’s death in 1489 was followed by a power struggle between his two sons. Nizam Khan succeeded him as the ruler of Delhi and assumed the name, Sikandar Lodi.

When Bahlul returned to Jaunpur, he took control of the city and appointed Mubarak Khan Lohani as its head of state. Bahlul also traveled to Badaon, which had been formally ruled by Husain Shah since Alam Shah died in 1478. Husain Shah invaded Jaunpur by taking advantage of Bahlul's absence.
