Mohan Raja is an Indian film director and screenwriter who primarily works in Tamil and Telugu film industries. After making his debut in the Telugu film Hanuman Junction (2001), he went on to remake several successful Telugu films into Tamil, beginning with Jayam (2003) which also launched his brother Ravi as a leading actor.

On August 28, the filmmaker announced the sequel to the film on its eighth anniversary. 'Thani Oruvan 2' will feature Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara in lead roles.
