May 4, 2007 · Cu-Zn alloys with less than 15% Zn are usually called bronze. The upper end is a phase structure limit. There are alloys with more Zn, but they are not considered brasses. Hi! The ASTM B19 specification for Brass states that the composition is 68.5% - 71.5% copper, up to .07% lead, up to .05% iron and the remainder is zinc.
Apr 29, 2005 · The spec sheet in front of me designates "Copper Alloy No. 360 (Free-Cutting Brass)" per specification QQ-B-626 in a condition specified as "Comp. 22" (which I take to mean "Composition 22"). Now UNS C36000 is "Free-Cutting Brass" and QQ-B-626 was discontinued in favor of ASTM-B16 in the early 90's.

I have a composition material cert. sheet showing the following: I have searched all over to find a comparable brass in a US standard, but have come up empty. I am looking for material properties and something to hold them to.

Inhibited admiralty Cu may also contain P, Ar, or Sb which further improves resistance to de-zincification. In general, this type of alloy is categorized as having "fair" resistance to CaCl 2 and "poor" resistance to NaCl.
