Jun 30, 2021 · Instead of creating its own directory, BCML was installed inside the python directory. It was a hassle to find it but mine was installed in "C:\Users\your_username\AppData\Local\Packages\PythonSoftwareFoundation.Python.3.9_qbz5n2kfra8p0\LocalCache\Local\bcml" then I opened BCML and where it says "BCML Data Directory" I set it to this one.

There might be a learning curve involved if you're not familiar with Linux, and virtualization, but it's a way you could essentially run it in quarantine so that if there is malware, it makes it more difficult for it to infect your real computer.
May 4, 2024 · The base game directory is usually where you installed the game, not where the tutorials say. Try looking in the folder where you installed BotW, it should be there. I used r/linkaggregators/ to find some alternative tutorials that helped me out. Make sure you're looking in the right place, it's an easy mistake to make.
