  1. Dec 3, 2020 · If you like Roadside Picnic I'm willing to bet you'd love the work of Stanslaw Lem. Ironically enough, Tarkovsky also adapted one of his other famous movies, Solaris, from a Lem novel of the same name, but Lem's other works fall neatly in line with Roadside Picnic, I'm a huge fan of 'His Master's Voice', and just about any of Lem's short story collections.

  2. The inability to deal with open endedness is itself a trait that lends itself to psychological and philosophical manipulation. Roadside Picnic does this masterfully and the distaste and disappointment you feel is a typical reaction. Another author that to me was disappointing was Jeff Vandermeer.

  3. Roadside picinc. Hey all! With the latest content drop from creators, we got to know a bit more from the gameplay. But I'm more curious narrative-wise about what is going on inside the area (or Zone) that we will be exploring. It was hinted that Roadside picnic was an inspiration, and if they go the route of the book it could have an impact ...

  4. Jun 29, 2024 · Television. There was a trailer for a new AMC TV show based off of the Russian science fiction novel "Roadside Picnic" by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky (Also known as the Strugatsky Brothers) back in 2016-2017. 5. May 28, 2022 · This video is a trek through the alluring world of Roadside Picnic, the media it inspired, and some of the things it itself was inspired by, from first contact with the STALKER video game series to a mysterious atmospheric radio podcast of the same name, the Tarkovsky film adaptation, and something entirely new waiting at the end of it all.

  6. Jul 20, 2022 · There is also a Japanese science fiction horror series I like, Otherside Picnic by Iori Miyazawa, that takes a lot of inspiration from Roadside Picnic, as its title itself indicates. Although its atmosphere is actually quite different, because it also seems strongly inspired by Lovecraft, Solaris, and Japanese folklore as well, but maybe it could interest you.

  7. Jul 10, 2016 · Hello. Although I've already read the book digitally, I was planning on getting a physical version of it. I've read here in the past that there is no really perfect translation for the book and since there are two to pick from (one being the UK version and the other North American), I wanted to make sure if any of those are much different from ...

  8. Dec 29, 2022 · I've read Roadside Picnic in English and Finnish. The English translation lacked something for me, but the Finnish one felt really Russian. I mean, it just had that certain feeling to it. Reading the same book in two different languages was like reading two different books. Really weird experience.

  9. Sep 26, 2023 · Between Roadside Picnic, Stalker, Metro, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Into the Radius, Annihilation, etc. Roadside is a tense and thrilling science fiction novel with a heavy message about life under the iron curtain. Stalker is very much similar, but it's an arthouse film in the same vein as The Lighthouse or Antichrist.

  10. Mar 24, 2022 · Spoilers. Red was going to make an extremely selfish wish and his partner convinced him to change it because of his naivety. The Stalkers probably seem like heroes to some and if you knew you needed to trick someone into activating an anomaly to get to the wish granter the sequence of events would mess with your head.
