"Minari" works because it is a story that doesn't feel fake and it wasn't afraid to show the hard realities of people having their own selfish convictions to the detriment of those around them, the distinction between right and wrong being so vague, and that trying your best just doesn't guarantee success in life.
May 1, 2021 · The Minari When the Grandma and David were singing the Minari song in the woods, the Grandma said something like “doesnt matter whether your rich, poor, they will always grow!”. I think the Minari is supposed to represent family. It doesnt need a ton of maintenance to grow and will grow beautifully even in colder damper places.

Dec 15, 2023 · Watched Minari last night and it was such a good movie. The acting and score were especially impressive. I’m struggling to understand the significance of Paul within the story (although I really enjoyed him as a character). In his introduction, it seemed like they were foreshadowing that he would cause the family harm.
Jan 11, 2024 · Not a lot happens in Minari, nothing incredibly note worthy stands out (except the end) but I think that is the beauty in its simplicity. It is the underrepresented migrant experience portrayed through a feel-good family drama that makes it palatable for those privileged to have grown up in western countries.

The incendiary finale is seemingly sudden and thrust upon the viewer, but its urgency only proves to show the ingenuity of Chung's build-up and heart he's put into his characters.

However, they agree to keep their bond platonic so as not to commit similar wrongs. Wonderful Wong Kar-Wai arthouse movie Lost in Translation (2003) More well known movie with Johansson and Murray.

It depicts how they struggle with different things like money, chasing their dreams, adapting to the new place and their own relationships. The story is beautiful and the movie is as good as the trailer shows.

Sep 16, 2021 · Minari subtitles. I just started Minari and, since I don’t speak Korean, I wanted to use English subtitles. Unfortunately for me, the only options are English SDH, Spanish and Off. I searched through the menus and settings but could not find an option for just subs without the SDH.
