Lazarevac (Serbian Cyrillic: Лазаревац, pronounced [lazareʋat͡s]) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. As of 2022, the town has a total population of 27,635 inhabitants, while the municipal area has a total of 55,146 inhabitants. Its name stems from the name of medieval Serbian ruler Prince Lazar Hrebeljanović. [4]

Novo ime Lazarevac je ozvaničeno i u srpskim novinama 28. juna 1889. godine i postao je centar ove oblasti. Po jednom mišljenju Lazarevac je dobio ime po najstarijoj kafani u ovom kraju, koja se zvala “Knez Lazar”, a po drugom, proglašen je za varošicu na Lazarevu subotu, pa je po tome dobio ime Lazarevac.
