Jul 17, 2006 · In both Britain and America, if the lace is very specific (in some cases it is so specific here in the UK that it pertains to a particular town) you could always use the name of the town to distinguish it. However, "broderie anglaise" is a slightly more general term and it is this which is usually known as "white eyelet lace" in America.

Jul 25, 2006 · I cannot vouch for what Kevman meant, but I am quite confident that I have the same idea he does (and please correct me if I am wrong, Kevman): He very probably means that the kids today do not bother about laces because they find that actually "lacing the shoelaces" (is that correct, by the way?), is too much of an effort if they can do with velcros instead.
