  4. May 18, 2023 · I would much rather serve federal grand jury than on a regular jury. You could be told that a trial will last for 5-6 weeks and if its a boring case you have to deal with that one case for the entire duration. Grand jury you hear new cases everyday and some a absolutely insane (like something out of a movie).

  5. The one time I was called in for jury duty, although I wasn't selected, jury selection alone was incredibly entertaining. It was a criminal trial for trespassing and disorderly behavior, the two defendants were representing themselves, one of the defendants would randomly yell "I object" to things the prosecution would say and every time the judge was like "You can't object, the trial hasn't started yet."

  7. Jun 1, 2023 · The whole point of jury duty is so that you are providing an impartial group of piers to decide your fate. Say you were ever in trouble, you would want volunteers to decide. I did just serve federal grand jury and of the 23 only 6 were men and I would say 85% was over the age of 55 sot here is a bit of demographic issues even when you are not volunteering.

Everyone (judge, prosecutor, defense, bailiff, etc) knows jury duty is an imposition (and at the end of the day it is only your opinion that counts) so try not to piss you off. The restriction are not onerous.
