David Healy is a psychiatrist, scientist, psychopharmacologist, and author. Before becoming a professor of Psychiatry in Wales, and more recently in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University in Canada, he studied medicine in Dublin, and at Cambridge University.

David Healy qualified as a physician and did a psychopharmacology doctorate on the serotonin system. He did post-doctoral research in Cambridge UK, became Secretary to the British Association for Psychopharmacology, and then a Professor of Psychiatry at Cardiff, Bangor and McMaster Universities.
