Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd. (KIOCL), has been mining for iron ore in the Kudremukh region of Chickamagalur district of Karnataka on the basis of a 30 year mining lease No. 909 dated 25 July 1969, originally extended to National Minerals Development Corporation (NMDC) and which expired on 24 July 1999.
Presently KIOCL is having 3.5 million tons capacity Pellet Plant and 2.16 tonnes capacity of Blast Furnace Unit located at Mangalore. Currently, the Company is engaged in the business of manufacturing and exporting iron oxide pellets and foundry grade pig iron for domestic market.
