Ghaziabad ( Hindustani pronunciation: [ɣaːziːaːbaːd̪]) is a city in the Indian state [4] of Uttar Pradesh and a part of Delhi NCR. [5] It is the administrative headquarters of Ghaziabad district and is the largest city in Western Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 1,729,000. [3]
The district Ghaziabad is one of the six districts of Meerut Mandal and one of the major industrial districts of Uttar Pradesh. Prior to 14 November 1976, the district Ghaziabad was known as a tehsil under district Meerut.
