True to its name, Siesta Key is the place to go for a relaxing island getaway on Florida’s Southwest Coast. The 8-mile-long island, which is just a short bridge crossing west of Sarasota, boasts stunning quartz-sand beaches and an array of outdoor recreation opportunities, from fishing to parasailing.
Siesta Key is a barrier island off the southwest coast of the U.S. state of Florida, located between Roberts Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. A portion of it lies within the city boundary of Sarasota, but the majority of the key is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sarasota County.
Siesta Key is a complete slice of paradise just a short drive from Sarasota. This 8 mile-long white sand island is on the Gulf of Mexico. Siesta Key is actually not part of the Florida Keys which most people assume. We’re lucky its only a 3 hour drive and visit as much as we can.
