IELTS Speaking Part 1. IELTS Speaking part 1 lasts between 4-5 minutes, includes around 8-10 IELTS speaking questions, and about 2-3 familiar IELTS speaking topics such as your job, your studies, your family, your hometown, your accommodation, etc. These topics are easier than the topics from IELTS speaking part 2.

It is expected that the examiner will introduce him/herself first and ask your name and then ask you to confirm your identity. The questions in this part include familiar topics such as home, family, friends, habits, work, studies and interests.

The IELTS Speaking module is a one-on-one interview between the test taker and a certified examiner. It consists of three parts: Part 1: Introduction and Interview (4-5 minutes) Part 2: Cue Card (3-4 minutes) Part 3: Discussion (4-5 minutes) The total duration is 11-14 minutes. IELTS speaking part 1. The whole IELTS speaking test is around 13 to 14 minutes long. In part 1 there are 3 different topics and around 9 to 12 questions in total. Part 1 lasts for 5 minutes and these tend to be topics such as hometown, work, studies, family, hobbies, daily routine, and so on (see the picture below).
