Jason Kidd was born on March 23, 1973, in San Francisco, California. He attended St. Joseph Notre Dame High School and went on to play at the University of California. Kidd was named PAC-10 Freshman of the Year in 1993 and won the PAC-10 Player of Year in 1994; for these efforts, Kidd was drafted 2nd overall in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks.
