Birla Planetarium, one of the must visit places in Kolkata. Birla Planetarium is the oldest and largest planetarium in Asia. It is popularly called Tara Mandal. There are regular one hour shows on wonders of the universe and on facts about the galaxies held here in three major languages Bengali, Hindi, English. The show is really amazing.
In the post COVID period the planetarium operations have drastically changed. The planetarium now remains closed on almost all public holidays. There are only two public shows (1 & 5 pm) available during the day on weekdays and three shows (1, 3 & 5 pm) on weekends. Monday remains the weekly offday. The total seating capacity is 132.
