His 31-year career included spells at 11 clubs and he has the unique distinction of playing over 1,000 English league games, including in excess of 100 for five different clubs.

  2. Biography. Peter Shilton OBE , started his Goalkeeping career as an apprentice for Leicester City at 15 years old, making his debut at 16 becoming the youngest player to have played for his hometown club. At the age of 17 Peter started playing for the club after they sold Gordon Banks.

  3. Since that appearance, only two goalkeepers have appeared for England at a younger age (Joe Hart in 2008 and Jack Butland in 2012). By the time of his last appearance in 1990, Shilton was the third-oldest player to appear for the Three Lions, aged 40 years and 292 days.
