Aelius Galenus or Claudius Galenus [2] ( Greek: Κλαύδιος Γαληνός; September 129 – 216 AD), often anglicized as Galen ( / ˈɡeɪlən /) or Galen of Pergamon, [3] was a Roman and Greek physician, surgeon, and philosopher.
