May 27, 2013 · Actor Bill Pertwee, known to millions as Warden Hodges in Dad’s Army, has died aged 86. The star, who played the warden in 60 episodes of Dad’s Army between 1968 and 1977, died at 3.30am today.
Pertwee enrolled in RADA, but was expelled for, as he put it, "lack of seriousness." He was married twice, first to Jean Marsh (1955-1960), whom he divorced, and then, on 13 August 1960, to Ingeborg Rhoesha by whom he had two children, Sean and Dariel.
