Feb 10, 2014 · You may not be overly familiar with the name, but producer and songwriter Neil Davidge has been a key figure in the work of one of the UK’s most loved bands, Massive Attack. As a close confidant of Massive’s Robert Del Naja (3D) he had a key hand in shaping the sound of the band’s third album, the much-loved Mezzanine.
Neil Davidge is a producer, composer and sonic pioneer known for his distinctive film & TV score, iconic production and collaborations with Massive Attack. Hailing from Bristol, he originally studied art before becoming a regular in the emergent local music scene, where he honed his craft as a producer, engineer and composer.
Neil Davidge was born in Southmead Hospital, Bristol in 1962. As a teenager he loved to paint, creating both fine art works and more abstract pieces. Prior to studying graphic design at Brunel Technical College, he became enamoured with the late 1970's UK punk scene, attending local gigs and reading of iconoclastic movers and shakers in the New Musical Express.
