Taipei Story (Chinese: 青梅竹馬) is a 1985 Taiwanese film directed by Edward Yang — his second full-length feature film and third overall. The film stars Hou Hsiao-hsien and singer Tsai Chin to depict the grinding relationship of Ah-lung and Ah-chen, who have known each other since childhood in Taipei.

May 11, 2022 · Born in Shanghai in 1947, Edward Yang moved to Taiwan with his family at the age of two and was bought up in Taipei. After graduating from the master’s program in Electrical Engineering at the University of Florida, he briefly attended the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California and later worked in microcomputers in Seattle.
