About Us. The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935 in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The Central Office of the Reserve Bank was initially established in Kolkata but was permanently moved to Mumbai in 1937. The Central Office is where the Governor sits and where policies are formulated.

Dec 8, 2023 · The RBI retained the consumer price-based inflation (CPI) forecast at 5.4 per cent for the current fiscal, with Q3 at 5.6 per cent and Q4 at 5.2 per cent. In terms of reaching the inflation target of 4 per cent, the governor said there is still some distance to cover, and the MPC will take appropriate action to reach the target, based on the evolving situation.
