Burdwan Medical College was established on 9 November in 1910 by Governor of Bengal and was undertaken by the University of Burdwan in 1969 as Burdwan University Medical College. Later it was and rechristened Burdwan Medical College on 4 August 1976. The campus is spread over approximately 253 acres (102 ha).
